About
Built for the hardest part of holding bitcoin: leaving it alone.
The problem is not buying. It is not selling.
Everyone who has held bitcoin through a real cycle knows the feeling: the plan says hold for years, but the chart is always open, the dip is always tempting, and the keys are always within reach. As long as you can sell, part of you is deciding not to - every day, sometimes every hour. Willpower is a bad custodian.
So we made the decision enforceable
VaultUntil was built to turn one calm decision into something the Bitcoin network itself enforces. You choose a recipient - yourself included - and a date, deposit into an address whose timelock is compiled into Bitcoin script, and from that moment no one can move the coins early. Not you at 3am, not us, not anyone. When the date arrives, delivery happens automatically.
Send and forget
Once coins are locked there is nothing to watch, nothing to second-guess, and nothing a bad week can talk you out of. Long-term holding stops being a daily test of nerve and becomes what it was supposed to be: a decision you made once, when you were thinking clearly. Send it, forget it, and let the date find you.
And time makes a good gift
The same mechanism sends bitcoin forward to someone else: a gift that matures on an eighteenth birthday, a graduation, a wedding date - delivered on the day, whether or not you remember it.
What we can and cannot do
The timelock is enforced by Bitcoin consensus, so early access is impossible for everyone, including us. At unlock, we sign and deliver the payout as instructed - that part is trust in VaultUntil, and we spell out exactly what it means on the risk page. We prefer customers who read it.
